59 Weird Courtesy Light Bulb.
Hi Guys,
Just went to fit my new courtesy light but found that it uses a weird 2 terminal single filament bulb.
I presume that this is because there is no grounding at the mounting point.
I have never seen this type of bulb before and certainly can't find one localy.
Does anyone have a part number for Bosch or another major electrical supplier.
I can get them from the usual Vette vendors but was hoping to get one through a local auto electrical or auto outlet.
Thanks, Mark.

Does it show the number in the bulb chart in your owner's manual?

Two contact single filament bulbs are relatively common and any auto electric shop or good parts house should carry them. You are correct that one contact is the ground and the other power. Look in the phone book for an auto electric shop and give them the number and I think you'll find they will have one for you.

I assume the bulb is the same as for a 62. It is a #90, which is a 6 candlepower duel contact bulb. It's industry size type is G-6 (glass is 3/4" dia., is 1.44" in length, and it is a 13 Volt bulb).
Fairly common older design used in quite a few US vehicles in 50's/60's.
Should be available from any auto parts house (as stated previously).

Thanks Guys,
I'll try some local auto electricians as I know that the usual auto parts stores around here don't have them.
Mark.
