How can you tell if 1961 trunk mat is orig?
Hello,
I put a trunk mat on ebay and I do not know if it is original? The previous owner I bought the parts from said it was?
Here is the Ebay listing, any help would be appreciated. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=2453875987
What do you look at to tell?
Thanks
Andy

Is there a sight where a person can find what number should be on their specific trunk mat. I would like to know what number should be on a 1960 second design (late year/no power top) trunk mat, in frost blue if the color matters? Thanks

If you're concerned about how to tell a repro mat from an original, I'd take this question over to the Factory Correct Resto section, or over to the NCRS board at ncrs.org. I've heard there are some tell-tale signs to look for aside from the number--but that's the limit of my own knowledge. I'm confident there is an expert somewhere with the real scoop, however.

I just realized there were a couple of questions asked in this thread--I was addressing the original one on the 1961 ebay trunk mat.
2 Ag, I agree the CD is a good deal (I have one too). I just read the '79 article, and it was a very informative one. I'd guess at lease a few reproduction manufacturers have gone in and out of business since 1979, though. No offense intended, but I'll reiterate my advice--ask someone with first hand experience in telling a '61 original from a '61 repro. (Note, Mr. John Amgwert, the article's author, still posts over at the ncrs board. Maybe start with him?).

EDIT I agree that there may be some tell tale signes that may help, but if the part number is wrong I would bother to look for other tell tale signs.

BTW, no flames intended here. I'd just like to see andy60 get to the bottom of this, since his ebay reputation is on the line and all.[QUOTE]
 I never took any of your statements as flames, I was just expressing my opinion. sorry if anyone took it the wrong way.

Hi guys!
Thanks a ton for all of the replies. IYou all have great input and advise. I appreciate it. This forum is great.
Muttley thanks for worrying about my ebay reputation but it is good check my feedback. I am not trying to pass my mat off as original, I leave that determination up to the bidders. I try to supply more than enough information to them and answer any questions to the best of my ability. I see you are from Clearwater, I lived in that area for 10 years and am a USF alumni. Thanks again for your input.
I only have one bid on the mat now and have not had any questions about it. It is a nice part for someone, I would have liked to use it in my 1960 but we all know that will not work.
Guys, thanks again. I hope everyone is having a super, super, super new year and I hope to see you all at Corvette Carlisle this year?
And not to worry, I did not take any comments the wrong way or feel flamed.
Have Fun (That is what Corvettes are about, especially C1's)
