NAPA sells a tool for it, they had to order it for me, but it was only $14.99.
It makes the job much easier.

Get "the tool". Looks like a pair of pliers, except when you squeeze the handle, the other ends "opens". You can pop the arms off easily. Resist the temptation to vice grip them and pull them off. :)
If NAPA doesn't have one, try Pep Boys, AutoZone, Salvo, etc. Look in the relatively cheap KD tool section. Chuck

2 screwdrivers under the either side will pop them right off. Just lie a blanket across your hood when they fly off.
I bought one of the removal tools and bent it trying to remove mine and was afraid I'd bend my wiper arms. It was the tool thats slightly bent with a hook that goes under the end of the arm and you squeeze the tool and the wiper arm together to pop it off, but didn't work.

I bought one of those same tools a few years ago and it works great. I can have the arms off in seconds. There is a little technique involved, apparently. :auto:

Here's the tool - makes wiper arm removal and installation a piece of cake, without scratching paint or flying parts; this one is made by "K-D Tools" - any good auto parts store carries them.

That's exactly the tool I had. I'm glad it works for you.

I spent the bucks for the tool right after I paid #300.00 for a set of 64 OEM "bright" arms and blades, the blades have the bumps on them. At that price I want to scratch nothing. :beatdeadhorse:

Worked as advertised:
It is a "piece of cake" as someone said above.

Replacing wiper arm with cap
So I was able to get the arm off. But anyone have any suggestions where to go from here the cap is pretty shallow. Do I leave the end alone and attempt to unthread the inner part closest to the chrome?

Tim,
What is it you are trying to do? The threaded area should have a bezel that screws on it and secures the wiper transmission to the body. The wiper arm that you have pictured isn't going to fit correctly. It's too shallow. On the inside underneath of a correct arm, there is a spring-loaded tab the locks the arm to the splined shaft. Don't think your arm is anywhere deep enough for that to hook.
