Default Help with carb build date

I have a Holley carburetor that came in a box with my 67 coupe 327/350 which has a Holley Street Avenger on it now. My car was made in November of 1966

The boxed carb has:
3906631-DA
LIST 3810
0616

According to the NCRS manual the LIST number is correct but the lower number is supposed to be the build date but I can't decipher it.

Can anyone help me with the build date of the carb?

The original production carb had a 3-digit date code; "0616" is a service replacement made the 61st day of 1976.

Thanks John, you just saved me $200. No sense rebuilding a carb that isn't original when I already have a functioning replacement carb.

Joemac8,
Don't discount your carb as a replacement just yet.
Some original equipment Holley's may have been coded using 4 digits; the first three indicating the Julian calender date (001 thru 0365, or 366 for leap year), ending in the single digit representing the last digit of the calendar year. This would indicate your carb could have been manufactured the 61st day of 1966.

Do you know of a source where I can find out about the early carb numbering?

The 1850 is the still-produced 600cfm "universal replacement" model 4160 carb; yours was made near the end of June, 1974.

That's doubtful - there are no documented instances of 4-digit Holley date codes being used on OEM production-line carburetors prior to 1972. There were occasional variations noted in the use of alpha codes vs. numbers during the 3-digit date code years, but the 3-digit date code format was used exclusively on OEM carburetors in the 60's.

I e-mailed Holley tech support this morning regarding the build date. Rickey from Holley responded "It was built the 61st day of 1976". Stingrayl76 is correct and I have the correct original carburetor!

If anyone wants to verify this information, the inquiry refrence is
HLY-000000000004178 and Ricky's e-mail address is rickyrichter@holley.com.

Thanks for all of the replys

Becareful with the Holley support guys. I e-mailed them a few times looking for parts (fast idle cam, bowl vents, banjo fitting, etc...) and they had NO clue and didn't care to investigate any further. I ened finding the parts online.

"Rickey" is confused, or just misinformed; NCRS (and many others) have documented clearly over the last 30 years that 4-digit date codes weren't used on production carburetors prior to 1972.

Instead of replying to a eleven year old thread you should start a new one. But your carb was made in either 1973 or 1983. Not original to any mid year

Rickey at Holley is incorrect. Believe JohnZ.

Trust me on this.
