Default Bellhousing Question

I have a chance to buy a bellhousing # 3733365 for my '56. According to my parts manual, this bellhousing is a correct replacement. The only problem is that the bottom two holes in the bellhousing for the transmission bolts don't have any tread in them, just two holes about 7/16th. What am I missing, how are the two lower transmission bolts fastened to the bellhousing??
Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Pierre

If memory serves me, those holes are guide holes for aligning pins, not bolt holes.

Looks like it missed part of a machining operation - they all had four 1/2"-13 tapped holes to mount the transmission. The correct tap drill size for a 1/2"-13 thread is 27/64".
