C2 !967 Parking Brake Shoe Assembly
Is it possible to change out the parking brake shoe assembly without removing the the spindles on a 67. I am helping a freind with his 67. We went to see what was wrong with the parking brake and found there were no parking brake shoe assemblies. The rotors are not riveted to the hubs.

Not only possible but not that hard. It can however be a little frustrating sometimes. Getting the shoe keeper springs and cups in place as well as the srpings themselves takes a little patience, but it's not bad once you do it once or twice.

Two words: dental floss. My wife and I did this job last year. Tedious but doable. The Rowley article is quite helpful. As I recall we tied the floss around the indent on the shoe retainer spring pin, ran it through the shoe and then strung the other goodies on the floss and worked them in between the hub and the shoe. Definitely a tight job. If your rotor rivets are not drilled you will need to do that to remove it so you can get to that "little' access hole in the hub.
Good luck. Patience, patience, patience... and then

I'm glad to hear some of you guys consider this job a little difficult. I think it is one of the ignorant jobs on my car, and I'm quite mechanical. To me it almost make one think about pulling the spindle! That's bad.
