Hello Builder,
Did the 770 heads come on a 58 passeger car also? I am supposed to go to Laurel Mississippi on Saturday to look at some ole chevy's (all project), The guy is supposed to have several 58 passengers cars in his collection.

Default 770 heads

I believe the 770 heads were Corvette only. The passenger cars had 772 heads but have the X58 casting on the sides. But pull the valve covers to look at the numbers. Also the 772 heads do not have the triangle (power pack) casting. 772's are a lot more common and the combustion chamber is a different size.

#770 heads were used on passenger cars too. They were used on the power pak motors (4-Barrel). The #772 were used on the 2-Barrel passenger car motors.

Hello redhot,
When you say the power pak motor are you refering to the 348 ci motor?

I am referring to 283 with 4 barrel carb.
The #770 heads were used on the 4 barrel 283 engines. Corvette or passenger car. On the front of the head, there will be a pyramid.
On the #772, there will be no pyramid. Also this head will have the staggered valve covers holes...
thanks,
jim
