Keisler Tremec TKO500 For Sale or trade for Richmond 5 spd.
I have a Keisler Tremec TKO500 for sale or trade. It has about 20k on it and is in excellent condition. No vibrations and shifts like butter. I'm selling the transmission, the Keisler shifter assy., speedo cable and the yoke only. Other than actually getting the trans and parts from Keisler I have had absolutely no problems with it.
$2000 obo.
I would also trade for a Richmond NON O/D 5 spd. in good working condition, preferably with a Long shifter.
The only reason I'm making the change is so I can run my 3.08's in the rear. My set-up does not like O/D until I hit about 85-90. The Richmond will just work better for me.

Nobody wants a Keisler/Tremec 5 speed ? If you bought this from me for $1700 you could have a 5speed in your car for less than 2 grand.....

I know that you don't WANT a 74, but would the TKO500 fit in place of my stock Muncie IN a 74? I could use the OD. I checked out your car . . . looks nice! Bet it runs/handles well, is it 2000 suspension up front with a LS1, what about the rear (I think I see discs)??

Thanks Richard,
I appreciate your answer. What about the bell housing? You can check Duntov-097's name on his info page (click on his "photo" of Alfred E. Newman), just as you can click on the photo of my car and get my info. How much of a final drive difference is there between my M20 and the TKO500? Right now it's turning between 2500 and 3000 rpm at 60mph. I should have plenty of torque. I had it dyno-tuned @ Horsepower Connection in Olympia, WA. It showed 420 rwft/lb of torque and 322.2 rwhp.
Thanks again,
Jim

Jim,
Here is a calculator on Keislers site. just click GM and then TKO 500 and your rear gear and it will tell you.
I was using a stock bell housing and clutch set-up.

D-097,
I'ld love to have your tranny. I don't want to come across like a "wuss" nationwide, but I'll need to check with my wife. She's been really supportive in my building of this car, but I may have reached the limits of my charm. Whats your bottom line?

O.k., after checking our records Duntov has the TKO-1 which is the same gear ratios as the TKO-500. 3.271st, 1.98 2nd, 1.34 3rd, 1:1 4th and a .68 5th. It was rated at 475hp and 475ft/lbs and does have the correct shift position to fit in your '74 Vette. You can reuse your bell housing and linkage, like I said, you'll need a 26 spline disc and a needle roller pilot bearing. Both of those items are available at your local parts store. The cross member will need to be modified to work with a TKO and he is selling you the rest of what you need to make the swap.
Good Luck.

Yes the driveshaft would need to be shortened but Duntov is selling the yoke as well. You'll need to have the yoke mated to your current driveshaft. After you've installed the TKO, take a measurement from the machined aluminum face of the tailhousing to the center of the rear end pinion(with the weight of the vehicle on all 4 wheels). Take your measurement, then deduct either 3" or 2 3/8"(depending on which yoke he has). If you get the kit from him, contact me and I will help you out as much as needed.
