Default RICHMOND 5/6-speed kits...

Okay...sorry this is drawn out,but trying to figure out the best way to advertise these kits, and what is available.
I just became a dealer for these Richmonds,so please work w/me alittle in the beginning.
I ran a old Doug Nash 4=1 in a Camaro many moons ago,and loved it,and leaning t'wards installing one of these in my 68.
I have done some extensive search on the internet, and this forum on these, and the install of these transmissions in Corvettes. What makes these nice is the gear selections available w/most of these trans. They fit the vette tunnel better, can be used w/all of the existing parts, except the custom made trans brackets that I am including, and the need for the original style "big turbo 400 yoke".These are all included w/Long shifters, and by all my research...are superior to the Hursts that are available for these trans. These will fit the stock shifter hole, and there is no need to modify the crossmember, nor does the driveshaft need shortened,so you can use the one that you have. Also, these are idea for the 3.08 cars, and 3.36s,and if you have higher gears, then cheaper to change the trans gears when ordering, than changing the rearend gears.
I have had some phone calls about these, and pms,and wanted to get this up,and available, but will be adding the complete conversions for the auto to manual conversion, and as always....I have scattershields available, performance clutch kits for ANY horsepower setups,Hyd. clutch/sl;ave setups, aluminum flywheels,steel,billet,LS1 flywheels, bellhousings, etc.I', more than willing to work w/you,and put together a kit for you. That's not a problem.
Until I get all the extras together, and posted..if someone is interested, then please pm me,and will get you taken care of.
I am still selling the TKOs,and they are GREAT transmissions, but I ran one of these, and was very pleased years ago,and these have been around for along time, and made right in SC.I just wanted to be alittle more versatile, but sold a TKO kit today.
All the trans will be shipped directly from Richmond, and all trans have a 1 year manufacturer warranty.
One more thing...as much as I hate to put this in words...I can beat Summitt, and Jegs on all these kits, and the additional items in the kits, except for the 6-speeds.They apparently buy in BULK,and are a couple hundred cheaper than me,so I would shop there,if you are wanting to go this route.I will sale you the "extra" parts needed to get this in your ride tho'.If I can do okay w/these,then the pricing will come down further, but right now they are cheaper on this one item.

I guess this kit is for C2 and C3? I tried to read the entire post but might have nodded off.
I installed a Richmond 5 speed in my 57 with good results. It's the same lenght as a T10/Muncie and has loads of room on the top side. I made my own cross member and shifter mounting bracket to lower the Long linkage.
With the 3.27 low gear and 3.08 rear end it always has the right gear at the right time!

I haven't done the C1 yet, cause I don't have a template for the trans bracket yet,and want the kits to be as user friendly as possible.Do you have a template for the bracket, and can you send me some photos of the install, and tips to vettesbydesign@comcast.net?
Sorry that ya nodded off.My little computer girl went back to college, then the economy went south,so....it's me,and my master skills on this cyber crap.

I'm trying to get an idea what the cost would be to change out my powerglide to a 5 speed. What would the parts cost me? Thanks.

What sort of horsepower/torque are these transmissions good for? My engine is supposedly putting out 620HP/650 ft.lbs. at the flywheel, car weighs about 2900#, 3.45 rear axle ratio, running street tires now but may go to 10" drag radials.

Do you have the Long shifter seperately? I have the Hurst shifter in the car now and would like to change it over. Thanks.

Kevin,

I've seen a few comments regarding modifying the shifter mounting bracket inorder to lower it so the shift handle does not sit so high. Can you comment on this and do you offer the modified bracket?

Thanks,
Rex

I will reply to the above later,or in the AM.I have a customer here from way up by Canada to pick up his 69 convertible, and he has been here for a couple days, and haven't been on here.He is leaving this AM,and things will slow down alittle, and will address the questions above.Sorry....
Yes...I can get the Long shifters seperately, and will get you the price.
To the guy wanting the complete conversion.....I will get the price for the complete conversion.
Rexx.......I haven't done the install in the mid-years,but I have seen where they modified the shifter mount.Do a search, and look at Sky65 blue mid-year.He has the standard Long in there.Pretty nice fit.
I will get ya all the prices, and answer the specific questions later.
Again....sorry for the delay.

Charles.....there is a guy over in the C3 section by the name of 427Hotrod,and he is putting out some serious numbers w/a BB,and uses a DN/Richmond,and swears by them.He has like a 11 second car that he drives EVERYWHERE,and races it every chance he gets.Do a search for Richmonds.
The Super Street 5s are rated at 600ft/lbs of torque.

Rex.....do do the search for the Richmonds.I got linked to a web page where from here on the forum where a guy did modify the shifter mount to lower the Long shifter.I believe 427Hotrod commented in a thread inb te C3 tech section, and linked it to the guy w/the mid-year install that modified the mount. If you can't find it....pm me,and will try to get the link some how.I should have saved it.

You are looking right about 5K to do the conversion w/ALL the parts to convert, and the painted console for your specific car.
I also, sell the TKOs.....you might want to do a search there also.Type in TKO in the search engine, and you will see my posts for the Tremec conversions. They are alittle cheaper, but not much.

Charles....I think that he did change out,but ran a DN for many moons, and he replied in a thread that he was very pleased w/the DN.I think he finally blew the gears out of the DN,BUT....BUT.....he is putting somewhere near 800 horse out,and it held for a long time.PM him.He will give you his honest thoughts, and he is one of the guys on this forum that I greatly respect w/his experience, and knowledge.
There's another comp. that sales trans called tranzillas,or something like that that you may look into, bud.I think they are rated to 1200 horse!WOW!!!!!
