Nice price...can't better a better aftermarket wheel...I have the same one on my '67 and it gets a lot of positive comments, plus the benefits of having a 15" instead of a 16" wheel helps getting in and out...good luck with the sale.

Default Eric Freeman teak steering wheels - UPDATE

Last September, after reading the glowing reviews of Eric Freeman's report teak steering wheels, I wrote him about making one for me. He said he had stopped making them for a while, but planned to make some in December and would add name to his waiting list. The price was $550, including shipping. I immediately ordered one and sent a check. At the end of 2014 or early January 2015, I received an e-mail from him staying that he was going to be shipping some in the next few weeks and that he would send me some photos so that I might choose one with the color and grain that I preferred of the batch.

After leaving town for for several weeks, I returned to find a box from Eric. Due to various circumstances, I didn't open the box until early March. I was quite disappointed. The teak used appeared to be of cheap quality and had little color or richness to it. It certainly does not look like those beautiful ones I'd seen in the photos posted previously in the Forum threads. The brushed stainless also was not uniform and appears shows an abrupt change of direction around the hub.

Not having his phone number, I e-mailed Eric to let him know of my disappointment and ask if he had any others that I might see photos of and swap for the one he sent me. A few weeks went by and still no response from him. I e-mailed him again, thinking that he might not have received the last one. Three weeks later, I've still not heard from him. That is surprising, too, given the posting about two years ago that he made great efforts to keep customers happy.

Several days ago, I found a phone # for him elsewhere on this forum in an older post. I called and left a message. I left another message yesterday, but thus far, not response. I'll let you know if I hear from him and his response.

I agree with you. It is no where as nice as the one sold for $400.00
earlier in this thread.
Sorry to hear it. It is indeed very dissapointing.

Eric's been working out of town for some time. It is hard to catch him at home but I'm sure when he gets your message he'll contact you.

Default Update on my Eric Freeman wheel

About two weeks ago, I heard from Eric. He has stopped making the steering wheels now, but offered to take care of my concerns if I returned the wheel to him. I returned it to him and just received it back today. It looks better than it did originally, but still not as nice as the one of his earlier ones that someone just sold on this thread for $400. It lacks the beautiful color and richness of the other wheels he did previously, but he did make an effort to bring out some more color. The odd stainless brush mark issue is still there.

In any event, it's going onto my '67 convertible with the adapter spacer he originally provided. It still looks a lot better than the original plastic "wood" color one!
