Default Fs '65 396 425hp holley carb

Very rare original Holley carburetor list#3124 for '65 396/425hp Corvette. The car is dated for a pretty early 396 with a date of 533= 3rd week of March 1965.This carb has the correct 4456 and 4519 metering blocks as well as the very hard to find small "peanut" fuel bowls. This carb has been professionally restored and is ready to bolt on.$3000

I was asked if this carb would be correct for a car with a build date of July.It does fall in the 6 month range but generally you would expect it to be dated closer than 4 months prior.I do have a half dozen more with later dates that are not restored available.

Also one member sent me a pm to inquire about a carb for his car that has build date of early December 1965.I do not believe that the cars had been built yet.Anyone know when they were released. I have a correct 3866963 intake that has a cast date of 12/24/64.The way casting number is very odd as well especially when you think there was NO prior big block aluminum intakes that would have been changed to make this from being that these motors were the first big blocks.I was told probably Z16 Chevelle as they were released before the Corvette

The L78 option for a Corvette was made available Feb.15 '65. If I'm not mistaken.

available to order is one thing, when it went to production another, best guess mid March 65.

All carbs are not the same price. It depends on condition and dates. The rest of the 3124 carbs that I am interested in selling are unrestored.I do not have a April dated carb.I have another one that is dated 533 which is third week of March '65.This carb is unrestored and obviously less money than the one listed here.I also have #3124 carbs that are dated 553,554 and 573

The point is, no L78's were built prior to Feb, 15th '65.

I told the guy that was inquiring on another site about a carb for a car with a early December build date that I thought there was not much chance of that car being an original L78. Since then his messages have proven that to be true with no other parts being correct except the tachometer,80lb oil pressure gauge and big block hood which turns out to be from a '66.
