Default F/S 2.5" Allen's Stainless side exhaust pipes for SB

For Sale: a set of barely, barely used Allen's Stainless Steel side exhaust pipes for a small block. These are 2.5" pipes with polished tips. We bought them for our '64 327 365hp coupe. They were mounted shortly after we replaced the engine in our car. Total time on the car: 3-4 months, though only about 20 miles worth of driving on them...mere hours total run time. Most of that run time came from tweeking the timing, etc on the new engine. We took them off because neither my son nor my mother would ride in the car saying they were too loud. My wife wasn't too thrilled about it either though she would ride in it. We now have a set of Allen's super quiet pipes installed in their place...problem solved.

The pipes are in very good condition; pretty much new. They do have some heat discoloring though the polished tips are perfect. These include the mounting hardware, but you will need the donut gaskets. The covers and associated side trim are not included. Asking $350/obo plus shipping. These list for $649 on the Allen's web site: http://allencorvetteexhaustsystems.com/

I forgot to take pictures before packaging the pipes for shipping, but do have those below from the initial install. I also have a short video with the car running as we moved it from one garage to the other. I can unpack for photos if needed. The video can be seen on YouTube here:

PM me if interested in the pipes.

Default exhaust

Compared with the allen side exhaust, are the super quiet a big improvement in noise reduction. I have standard GM sidepipe and hate the noise. thanks, jim

Hi Jim,

The super quiets when standing outside the car didn't really make that much difference, but when inside there was quite a reduction. They make it much easier to listen to the radio in our coupe, which is usually a challenge with side exhaust.

Default Allen's Super Quiet Side Pipes

I read your post with particular interest in the actual sound of Allen's Super Quiet Side Pipes. I'm looking and anticipate major problems with the better half. Can you really carry on a conversation without difficulty at say 65 MPH cruise speeds? Would you also say they duplicate the sound of the NOS Pipes? I would sincerely appreciate your views on these pipes. I want that performance appearance with a little exhaust rumble and still look over at the wife riding along with a big happy smile.
Thank you for your help and good luck with the sale of your pipes

I bought the same pipes but now I'm wishing I had bought the super quiet ones. My wife won't ride in it either but she's not really into cars anyway so that's not a problem. But I really have to crank up the amp to hear the radio.

I have these on my '66 convertible. They're loud, but I love the sound- especially when I get off the pedal.
