62-65 327 engine forsale
Hey guys,
I picked this engine up for my 70 camaro. I have a turbo set up from a Grand National and I always wanted a carbed turbocharged 327 but I cant use these heads so I thought maybe I ll see if any of you want an a numbers matching engine first before I start into this.
Engine is complete from 4 barrel intake cast, heads are 3782461 double hump no accessory holes old valve covers, block is 378270, and the engine stamp looks like FII8RE which the RE states it is a 340 horse out of a 62. I have no accessories for it and it looks like it was never opened up. Been setting in a garage for years, has oil in it, plugs still in it. So selling as an engine which will need "rebuilt".
I can send pictures if you like via text, just pm me.
looking to get around 650 for it, I live in punxsutawney Pa. 15767. I would maybe consider a stock running 302, 327, or 350 from a camaro trade.
I am only about 2 hours from Carlise if anyone is going there in a few weeks.
take care

"FII8RE which the RE states it is a 340 horse out of a 62".
You are missing a digit in the engine stamp assembly date.
The assembly date from mid January 1960 and forward is 4 digits, with a leading zero for the month or day (if needed).
F = Flint
II8 could be 0II8, or I0I8, or II08 if the missing digit is a zero.
RE - 62 to 64 Corvette 327 (340 hp or 365 hp, depending on year)
Also, if this is a Corvette engine, it should have a VIN derivative on the engine pad.
Can you double check the engine pad.

stamp id
Sure,
Stamp ID is 3105898
sorry I had that and forgot to list it. I'll have to get block casting date code. I did not write it down for some reason.

Not sure with the "S" discussion is all about.
3105898 is from a 1963 Corvette.
The leading 3 is the year of the car (1963)
105898 is the VIN derivative.
This engine appears to have come from 1963 Corvette # 5898.
5898 is a pretty early VIN, with estimated production date of 12/29/62.
So, with ending serial numbers of 4047 for November, and 5972 for December, I am going to take a wild guess that the engine suffix code reported as FII8RE SHOULD be FI2I8RE (Dec 18 for a Dec 29 car).
1963 Corvette 30837S105898 is listed in the NMVTIS database, so the car was alive and well as of 1/1/2010.
Could you post pictures of the engine pad?

Thanks for the info EMC! Ill try to get pics of all the numbers tomorrow. It would be pretty cool if this engine could find its way back to the original car.
Now the only sucky part is I would hate to break this engine up so I am back to looking for one for my camaro. lol

I stand corrected...I was referring to the S in the VIN, but the 3 is for the 63's.
Still on the hunt for my "3108710"!!! If anyone happens to stumble across it, I will be forever in your debt!!!

UUmmmmmm....guys, I own a Dec 19, 1962 c2 convertible that has a 1970 400 (runs). Am I right in saying that this engine you have is possibly the one I have been looking for since 2012 when I bought my vette? I still run with the original Muncie and 4:11 rear...looking for my vin # right now...standby...

"block is 378270"
Is it fair to assume you meant 3782870 ?
If so, you should post the info from this thread in the Orphan VIN stamped parts thread in the sticky section of the main page. thats where we try to get these engines and cars together.
