Default Lost M 21 looking for Old Owner

I recently removed transmission with case # 3885010, build date P7D12 with a vin stamping S117278, tailstock 3857584, 26 spline output and single grove input from a 58 Corvette. Im returning this car back to original Powerglide so don't need this 4 speed set-up. Appears to have been installed in the late 60's or early 70's and has Hurst Competition Plus shifter attached with welded on correct looking short, straight chrome handle/small white ball. Shifts really nice before removal and was considered to be a Museum car since the 70's. Would be nice to re-unite wilh original engine or??. Can text photos. Is this worth anything??
Thanks Tom

Worth a lot to the owner of the matching original car, IF you can find hi/her. A real needle in a haystack, but it happens.

I recommend two things (1) Copy this post into the orphaned parts thread up in the stickees, and (2) check for the matching VIN car in the C1 registry.

I checked the C2 registry and that VIN is not listed. If you don't find the owner I would be interested in the transmission. I have a 67 that was built about three weeks after that on. Mine has a transmission with correct castings, but the build date is after my car and it has a Chevy II VIN.

PM me when you decide what to do.

Since this thread does not have an asking price, the OP can either start a new one with a price if he hasnt sold it already, or start a similar thread in the General section as a "what's it worth?" thread.

In the meantime, I'll close the thread and put a copy of the OP in the Orphan parts section, which is where we put inquires for VIN-stamped parts.
