Nice combo but over budget. I just checked and my heads are correct, only engine block is needed, an economic one.

283 engine for 58 C1
I am looking for a 283 engine for my 58 vette ser #J58S107842. Anyone have one for sale?
Currently has eng #FOI23D, cast # 3756519, QuadraJet 7J42250 0505, Intake manifold cast # 3875954 S, 4 speed manual transmission I could use as trade. Runs great, but not matching engine. Has 8000 mi since rebuilt sometime in 1985+/-.

283 engine for 58 C1
Hi BigTank, I am a novice at this stuff so please bear with me. I don't know what the diff is between "short" and "Long" block. Will this engine fit in a 58 corvette? Also, 2x4 I think indicates dual four-barrels. Is this correct? Stamp F205CU, not sure what all this means. Does it indicate a vette engine from May-Jun 58 and equipped with 2x4? Looks like the heads and block were manufactured in Jan, 1958. Would this be considered "original"? thanks for the reply. If works, interested. Bruce

283 engine for 58 C1
Can you please send me more info on your engine. I think T means Tonawanda and I thought all C1 engines were manufactured in F (Flint).
Also, the D seems to indicate 58-62 Chevy sedan with 2bbl and power-glide trans.
Is your engine from a 58 Vette? If so I am interested as my Vette (F0123D) already has a similar engine, which I am looking to replace with a period correct engine (realizing I will probably never be matching numbers, but at least get a 58 vette engine).
thanks, Bruce

I have a 3737739 sitting in my garage. I also have a 67 camaro RS/SS in parts. My husband prepared it for body and paint. He passed before getting it done.
I realize your in Texas and most likely not interested in buying this but I am wondering if you can give me advice on how to best sell this car and parts. I also have at least 3 motors, maybe 5 as two are out in the shed on wooden frames and hard to access. Would I get a better fair market price selling out individually or as a whole. I understand a purist would want the whole but I am not sure if if I have the entire car -100%. It might 98 %. How do I know if I have the original motor?
I understand if this is over the top. No worries if you would prefer to pass on replying.
