I installed a BowTie Overdrive's 700R4 4 speed automatic overdrive in my 1962. FYI, if you buy the kit pieces from them you don't have to drill one hole in the car. With a 3.36 rear end gear, low gear in the trans is quick, and the tach sits at 1,980 RPM at 65 miles per hour on the freeway in 4th with their lock-up converter.

sounds like you have a nice car. this is a driver for my wife so I got a new turbo 350 from jegs and a 3.08 pumpkin from a 61 big block impala. shiftworks c-1 shifter from shift works in las vegas ( looks like a stock shifter)
