That is stainless trim and what looks like rust is most likely the crusty old glue from the weatherstrip.

Thanks, But still would like to see some underside photos of frame or a comment from someone that has seen the car in perosn before I can get serious.

cool car, I dig it, my buddy only has unrestored bikes and cars, I fall into the overrestored & non restored camps, I'd just leave this as be and drive it worry free, looks really great,
