Did anybody buy this
I called about it this morning but things didn't sound right. I hope it was a scam because I backed out of a deal with the owner and the add is no longer there.
I'm selling my dad's car one owner car all matching numbers and only reason selling it cause due to health issues not going any lower on price and no text only calls thank you have a good day

Yes I bought it, I sent him a 5k deposit and he included free shipping with a 2 week return policy if I dont like it. I talked him down to 22000. I will send more pics when it arrives. He through in a full tank of gas.
Why did you back out? Did he asked to wire money? Western Union?

Randy, good move on your part but let the guys here know how he wanted you to pay him? It will help guys if it happens to them. Was his phone number from Alabama?
I know that wires cant be reversed but at least the bank should have a record of the transaction. I am sure if it ever went to court or you caught him, his version was that YOU NEVER CAME TO GET THE CAR.

He said he didn't know how the add ended up on Memphis Craigslist but naturally he'd had a ton of calls.
He stated the pictures were current and that he had 11 other cars and decided to sell a few. We talked awhile and I said I wanted the car. He had turned down several people who wanted him to hold it with a small deposit,
imagine that. He told me he banked with Bank of America and that he would call them and get the info for me to wire the money to his account.
He called back and gave me the info I called the number he gave me and it was Bank of America but I wasn't ever successful in talking to anyone. A recording stated all representatives were busy.
I did a reverse phone number on him, after not being able to talk to anybody at the bank, and the number didn't match his house address. After talking back and forth with him a few times about not being able to talk to anyone at the bank and his excuse about why his phone number didn't match I came to my senses and quit calling about it.
Here's the information he gave me:
He said his name is Guillermo Castillo, 2453 Waterstone Drive, Cedar Hill Texas

The add appeared yesterday morning on the Memphis Craigslist. I called it immediately and an older sounding man said he lives in Cedar Hill, Texas.

Lucky you didnt send him any money. You have to think, a guy with a collection of cars would know a price of a midyear. By putting it in a Memphis CL add you couldnt travel fast enough to buy it so you would have to buy it from the pics. Ask him to have a picture taken with him and todays paper and the title. Scammers are getting better all the time.

With as old as this silly scam is... I think I first saw it on ebay in the late 90s, as well as how common "phishing" scams are in general, I really have to wonder about people who are getting beat on this this one nowadays.
