WANTED C2 corvette
Hi all,
Im looking for a C2 corvette...
A few quick facts to assist:
- Im not really picky on the colour
- coupe or convertible is fine
- i dont mind doing some work on the car
- i do prefer a solid engine but not fussed on its size
- would love a powerglide auto but manual is also fine
- I am in Australia so assistance with shipping would be fantastic
- love knock off wheels
- preffer a side pipe but again not a must
- would prefer a black or white interior
- wood / original steering wheel is prefered
Thanks and i look forward to hearing from you.

Have you looked at any cars already in Australia ?
C2 Corvettes on carsales.com.au
Keep in mind, lets say you spend USD40K on a reasonable C2. The AUD is currently at 0.7975 (and falling) making that car AUD50K. Then you have 10% import duty, now its 55K... plus shipping (figure 3-5k depending on location and how well you want it looked after)....
If you dont fly to the US and see what you are getting, what happens if it arrives full of rust ? Its a decent risk, especially from *some* of the dealers.

you make a good point, but there a no good ones in Aus at the moment apart from the 427 at 139k but i dont really want to spend that.
I have someone on the ground in Miami who will check any car for me. A family friend.
anyhow, there is a much larger selection in the US and the value for money is incomparable compared to here.

For Canadian Residents, Price + Applicable Taxes + Applicable Licensing Fees. All Prices in USD’s.
I could seek to connect you with a person (s) who could inspect the car for you. Feel free to PM.

What is your price range?
I see in your other thread that you are looking at cars that have known issues and need a restoration. Restorations (depending on what is needed) could sink you (and you never know what is REALLY needed till competent hands get on the car).
A $40K bargain car could easily need $50K in restoration (especially if using a known competent resto shop). Then you are sitting at $90K and it still is still sitting on US Soil.
The other thing is that you need the seller to play ball with you, as there is some A$$ pain involved in preparing a car to ship/dealing with shippers.
From your wish list, and final destination, you might be better off with a Quasi-Resto Mod car. One that has been gone through and will be up and running as soon as it rolls off the dock.
Mike Coletta might be a good place to start.....

I would love to see this car go to Australia! The reason it's not on Craigslist in Denver is that I know I'll have seller's remorse and I don't want to see it at every car show and cruise I go to for the next 15 years. If it's in Australia I don't think that will be a problem.
And if my math is correct, it's only a little over 100,632 Australian dollars!
