A friend of mine and also a member here went to look at it and buy it, but it was basically junk. From the cowl forward had been replaced and the work was terrible. He said the gobbed up resin and bondo was pretty bad. I guess at the right price someone could put a front clip on the car. But you would have to buy it cheap in imo not to be upside down in the car.

I would say, never buy without posting what you might want here for members to view. Unfortunately, not everyone is aware of this asset.

Probably sold due to the low asking price. Hopefully the buyer looked first. If everything was ok other than the front clip it might still have been a reasonably good car. I liked the color and side pipes. When buying a Mid Year in the $30's there usually is some kind of issue.

The seller also couldn't find the title.

Wow. I just had much the same experience here in sunny Florida. The pictures looked great. The price was reasonable. Unfortunately the car didn't look nearly as good in person as in pictures. Then when the seller started coming down in price he informs me that all he had was a bill of sale

I still think it wasn't way over priced. Not a lot of running c2s at that price. Yes you have to see it but for 36k you had to expect work to be done. ''
FIRST THING A PERSON SHOULD ASK IS DOES IT HAVE A CLEAR TITLE IN YOUR NAME AND IS THE VIN# THE CORRECT FACTORY ONE AND NOT SALVAGE OR STATE ISSUED.

In Vt. the DMV does not title cars over 15 yrs. old
Bring the car to Vermont with a BOS from the seller, fill out the tax and reg. form. which the seller also signs. These two pieces of paper will allow me to register any car 15 years or older. I do not need to produce a title period. When I do, they do not want the old title and just give it to me.
Oh yea, they also require my drivers license number and SS number. So I guess you also have to be a Vermont resident. I am sure there are other states that do this too.
The DMV will do a vin verification by looking at the vin tag to see if it matches the BOS. Most DMV employees at the DMV do not even know where the vin. tag is, much less be able to tell if it is original to the car(correct rivets etc).
