Default Look at what I found... LT1 heads...

I bought this 67 Camaro off eBay, had a rebuilt motor and all that, but I wanted to swap the heads, because I have a really nice rebuilt set of aluminum L98 heads. So I go pull the valve covers off of the 67, and the numbers stamped on the heads are "3973487". 1971 or 1972 Corvette LT1 heads. Not a bad find eh? I'm still getting rid of them though, I need the intake bolt pattern of my aluminum heads for my fuel injection setup. Plus they don't have the accessory hole for serpentine, and I don't wanna drill them. But hey, if anybody needs em, let me know...

'487s are some pretty good heads for 30+ year-old factory units.

Keep in mind that the base motors used the same casting number in '71 and '72. Until you pull the heads, you won't know if they are the big valve (LT-1) heads. Good luck!

Yep, my -72 base engine had 487x heads too. Besides the bigger valves the LT1 heads should have screw in rocker studs and guide plates aswell I think?

True. 487 and 487X was used on the Base(L-48) and the LT-1. Only difference was the LT-1 used the 2.02/1.60(base 1.94/1.50), slightly stiffer springs and the screw-in studs and guideplates. They are one of the best factory production line heads for the smallblock.
