Default Buying and selling at Carlisle car shows.

I have one of my Vettes listed in the Sale section, I was also thinking of taking the car to the Carlisle all GM show in two weeks. Any opinions on which show would be better to sell the car (all GM show or Corvettes at Carlisle in August) ? Any words of wisdom form anyone with personal experience selling or buying at Carlisle would be appreciated. Thanks for your help ! (1980 L82 40642 miles)
Thanks,
TheBillman

I have no experience selling at Carlisle. I am going to be there with a vendor friend at the Corvettes only in August. It is quite a show. I would think it would be the better of the 2, but no first hand experience with the earlier one.

I bought my 82 at Carlisle in 1997. The guy I bought it from on Saturday had bought the car from someone else on Friday. I felt that he sold it to me for a fair price. Nice thing about buying at Carlisle is the access to "transport tags" and almost unlimited cash advances on your credit card! Here is a link to the story of my 82 purchase. http://www.corvettemagazine.com/2000.../82coupep1.asp

You will have less competition (fewer corvettes) at the GM show, but on the other hand you may have more folks interested in buying a corvette at the corvette show so I think it's a toss up. I would take it to the GM show and if it's still not sold by Aug, bring it to the corvette show. I think either is a good way of selling as well as seeing what other vettes are going for.

Good Luck!!

you can expect a very competitive deal at Carlisle...not necessarily to your advantage though.. if i took it there i would have two prices in mind; 1) what i want to get for it, and 2) what i know its actually worth....and be prepard for either offer, and only take cash.
