More pictures - looking for advise
Hi,
I'm looking for someone to help me evaluate a 1970 LT1. It's a number matching car. Preferably someone who can tell a fake from the real one. If you can't, please don't shy away from replying if you are interested. Your opinion is more valuable than the conversations with the seller and the pictures.
According to the seller, the frame is in excellent condition. The windshield posts are in rust free condition and the core support is in good condition. Bumpers, paint, and body are in excellent condition. Interior is all factory correct and original. Vacumm system is not working properly and could use a set of new tires. If you are interested, please let me know. Thank you so much.

Please advise on the condition of this car
Hi,
Here are more pictures of the car's undercarriage. Can you advise me on whether this is normal for its age or should I run away from it?
Also, I'm not sure if vette9.jpg is the number on the engine pad. The VIN is 194370S405009. Does this number look right? Thanks.

You're last picture, depicting the engine pad, is difficult to assess. It appears as though the stamping is raised vs stamped, although I don't know how that can be. The fonts look correct to me, as well as the whole string of characters in their placement. Hard to see the vertical striations that are the broach marks. Maybe there is a lot of pitting on this engine pad, or maybe it's to close of a shot.

That is not an excellent frame. Rails look pretty cancerous, especially that first picture where you can see the diagonal brace. You an see some bright orange rust there. Need to see if you can jab through there with a screwdriver.
Would help if someone removed the kick panels and inner windsheidl trim to check the birdcage.
Pic of the engine pad was too close. What you have there is the date the engine was manufactured and the engine code. I thought the engine cose was CTH but on closer inspection I think it is CTU. You can just barely see the bottom of the U curving in. The T is also short due to the fact that the worker did not hit hard enough. CTU is the code for 350ci, 370hp (manual transmission, transistor ignition) which would make the car an LT-1. There should also be another smaller string of numbers that has the last part of the VIN. Those numbers are stamped lower down on the pad.
I don't know if they did this in 1970 but my 75 also had the VIN stamped on the transmission and differential.
Some other good information here: http://www.corvetteactioncenter.com/...970/index.html
On first glance, I would say high possibility of an LT-1 but that is some pretty heavy rust on the undercarriage.
