Default c5 suspension conversion?

Has anyone or company ever adapted c5 suspension/drive-train to a c3 frame.

The rear mounted trans will be your biggest hurdle. There just isn't the room under the C3 body for it.

If you are willing to modify your body behind the seats then I say go for it. The C5 suspension stuff are widely available and can be made to work with the old C3 frame.

Its not just behind the seats, the trans would actually have to sit between the seats. The rear axles of the C5 set farther away from the back of the seats than in a C3. I believe there just isn't enough room to mount the trans.

The longer wheel-base of the C-5 (104.5 v. 96.2) creates a myriad of problems. Also, the track is wider on the C-5's. If I had DEEP pockets, I would make it happen....lol

least expensive way......
buy a c-5 and graft or make new c3 panels/body to fit chassis

cheapest way of all.....
paint a c3 profile on the side of a c5

there is another place to get a frame done also.Exline Custom Auto.I use C-4 suspension and your original frame for the conversion. Then you can bolt on the C-4 parts. There is a little cutting to do to the floor in the rear to get the shocks and differential to fit,the rest of your car will look stock.EMAIL exlinecustomauto@frontiernet.net(sorry web site not finished yet but do have email)Also there is another place doing the conversion,Paul Newman. His company is called Car Creations.www.carcreationsinc.com
