'81 Yenko Corvette?????
I was at a car show tonight and spotted a unique '81 vette with a turbo on it. And there was documentation/bill of sale for the turbo package from Yenko Chevrolet.
I know Yenko did some performance packages for the last of the 2nd gen Camaro's.
I'm wondering if this was a limited run for the vette. And what would be the approx. value of the car. The car has 23k on the clock and it's in fair condition.
Any insite would be greatly apprieciated.

The car is red. No Yenko stickers of any kind on the car. Just the paperwork for the turbo install which was $2900 back then. The radiator overflow bottle was removed to make room. The windshield washer bottle is used for the water injection system which was part of the package. There is a boost gauge by the ashtray and a water level indicator next to it also.
I wish I had my digital with me tonight. BUT! I do have the guy's name and address, so I my pay a visit for some pics. I told him I would be interested in buying the car if we found out more info verifying the history and value of this car. I would just like to have it as a conversational piece.

I don't think I've ever heard of a late-model Yenko Corvette, but since Yenko conversions were done "in-house" and there's little (if any)difference between the Chevy 350 V8 engines in the 1981 Yenko Camaro of the time and the stock Corvette, I don't doubt that someone could have paid to have the turbo option installed on their car at the dealership. Very interesting.

Never heard of a Yenko on a Vette as late as an 81. My bet is it's bogus. They did alot of 427 tweaks and some body striping on late 60's Vettes. They guaranteed your car would run 11's and they did.

FWIW: The Yenko Chevrolet site lists a 1981 Camaro installation but does mention a tubro installation for a Corvette. I suppose it could be possible.

I'll try to stop by this guy's house over the weekend and get pics of the car and engine. I'll need someones help posting the pics on here.
The turbo setup looks very similar to the Duntov vette. Air cleaner is the only major difference.
