NCRS dating question, blocks and carbs
Build date of block is T0207LR, (feb 7, 69), when does the carb's need to be dated to meet NCRS guidelines? How close to build date of block were the carbs/intake dated from the factory? Found a tri-power set-up dated 2nd week feb, 69 and thinking this will not work since it's 1 week after. And intake dating really don't matter since can't see date code right? long as its correct casting number and not a repo right?
I have NCRS judging/tech guide enroute, but needing some clarification now.
Thanks

NCRS has a 6 month window prior to the vehicle build date.
I believe that you are correct on the intake item. Since the date is on the bottom, it's (the date) not judged. I'm sure someone else will chime in and confirm (or chastize) me...

All your dates should precede the engine build date 0207 since all the varous parts would have had to exist before the engine went together.
The question is the carburetors; these were installed at St. Louis, not a Tonawanda, so the dates could vary a bit.

So I got the NCRS judging/tech guide couple hours after I posted the question, and read through it, read thru responses here and i'm still not clear. Under carb's section it does not say anything about carb dates relevant to any vehicle build date, cylinder casting date or engine assembly date.
Here is the section where it says there is a 6 month time span between cylinder casting date, engine assembly date, and vehicle build date. And it does not say prior or after those dates.
So i'm still confused...

Check your trim plate for the body build date....this is the date NCRS uses for it's 6 month window of other dated parts.
Trim plate info is in the Interior section of the judging guide.

NCRS is judging the car as they came from the factory. I don't think any (or let's say very few) cars left the factory with carbs that were dated later than the cars were built. This is such an obvious point that the NCRS guide doesn't make the point.

It's the car assembly date that counts, not the block casting or engine assembly date.
If the carb is dated prior to the car date, you'll be OK.
You're also better off posting questions like this on the NCRS site where you'll get 'official' answers
