The body lift was a success
Hi Guys,
We had a great day on Sunday and the body is finally off the frame. Here are a few shots of the fun we had.
Thanks to all of you for your advise getting this far.
Now the real work starts!!

I'm afraid my memory sucks and I won't remember where everything goes!
Take lots of pics and label all of your fasteners. I suffer from CRS as well and I find the pics and labels help alot.

I plan to rebuild the chassis with new front/rear components from several kits. (I'm checking all the catalogs now).
The motor is low mileage and I'm hoping to get away with minimal bottom end work. The top end will likely be an Edlebrock Performer package. (Aluminum heads, intake cam etc.)
The transmission is an M21 and the differential has a stock 3.36 gear set-up. I spoke with the transmission shop yesterday who are now lined up to rebuild both. Although, he's steering me towards a 5-speed with taller gears. I'll let you know on that one!
The body will sit for the winter, but the plan is to keep the stock appearance and yes the metallic yellow will stay!
I'll post the update photos a I go along.
Thanks for the interest!

I lose my glasses twice a day... I KNEW I wasn't going to be able to find stuff 2 or 3 years after I took it off the car.
BAG AND TAG, it will save you some serious running around time later.
Good Luck!!

I'm fixing to pull my body off in a couple of weeks. I've seen a couple of pics with the same looking cart for the body to sit on. Where can I get the plans for one of those? That looks like it works perfectly without spending alot of money.

Ah, a good Hoe opperator.
I'm glad it this wasn't one of those bad luck threads, that was my first thought when I saw the first pic. I could see it now the thread title would have read (hose blew Vette smushed).
Any way back on track, Good job, did you take lots of pics for referance for reassembly?

Wish I had a backhoe for when the time comes. Great idea though!!
On keeping track of the parts, I use the AIM and put the page number and other reference info to help me remember when the parts came from. For those that won't fit a baggie, I use tags with strings, big enough to record AIM info..So we'll see if this works as it's been a couple of years since some of the parts were removed.
Still got an old land rover to get out of the garage before the 73 gets any more attention.
