My Horn Honks Without Pressing The Horn Button!
My 1980 has a mind of it's own. The horn has not worked for over a year and now that the weather has got colder my horn honks by itself. I disconected both horn wires from both horns and it still honks! Are there more than two horns on an 80? I can find the thing and have searched all over the front of the car. Has anyone had a problem like this and how can I stop it from honking all the time while I'm driving. It is really embarasing when pulling in to my neighborhood or stores and my horn goes off.

I'll take my best guess ... the horn relay needs replacing.
Her is a pic of a 75 ... gonna be different but similar for later C3s.
It's the light blue thing.

Happend to lots of us. Makes you look stupid right? My problem was in the column. A few plastic parts broke and when I turned the wheel the horns honked. I was wondering who the A$$hole was honking his horn at me and then I realized it was me.

If you have disconnected your two horns up by your headlights, then the honking must be coming from the horn in your alarm system. That horn has nothing to do with your steering column. My 75 has the alarm horn in the back upper corner of the car. You have to get to it from under the car.

I had the screw that tightens the turn signal arm come loose and when I turned it made contact and the horn would go off. My fix, take apart the upper steering column and put some loctite on that screw. Funny thing though, seemed my horn only would go off when lots of people were around and it would startle everyone of them.

I found it!
Well I din't fix the problem properly but I did find the 3rd horn and disconected it. This has been so embarrasing having my car honk at everone while I drive her. Now that she is quiet again I can try to find out the cause of the problem so I can have a working horn that only blows when I want it to. Thanks for all the help.
