Tilt front / 'clamshell' hood conversion
Hi all,
After living with the C4 for a few months now one thing I love about it over the C3 is the 'clamshell'/ tilt front hood, it makes working on everything so damn easy.
I remember seeing a few tilt front conversions done to C3's (I think rosslato's car has it), anyone who has one I was just wondering what was done to the car (pics would be great).
I am not really considering doing it to my C3 right now but am interested in seeing what is involved, but may consider doing it when I repaint the car.
Cheers,
cosmic

rite on cue!
Ecklers still carries these hoods but quite pricey though. it sure does make for ease of working on the eng bay and only takes maybe 5 min to remove the hood, undo 2 bolts & unhook the lights & take it off. as fer the install i can't be of help as i didn't do mine i bought it that way in 1990 but Big G has the same hood & did the install himself so he knows whats involved. see my homepage for more pics.

Mine just got done - the paint was put down just last week. You either need to be REALLY good with fiberglass if you want to do it yourself or have $$$ to pay someone to do it. The problem get to be that the rear of the piece does not always fit the contours of the doors and most importantly, so you have to build it up/grind it down until you get the right fit... all in all, took about 50 hours of labor to get mine to fit. So just be prepared for that..
