new stingray hood scoop...
among other mods (new lexan windshield, new full black interior and matte black t-top frames) i'm fixing a new stingray scoop on my high rise hood...the hood new color will be matte black (instead of white) and i thought that maybe painting the scoop in another color would look cool...or a full matte black paint will do better?

Did you weight the old winshield and the lexan windshield?
If you did, how much weight did you save?

have a look at the empty door...there was about 25 lbs of useless steel (each door) that is in the garbage basket now...

Melting Slicks
I agree that those metal door skins weight a good amount but in a side impact those metal skins will save your life. They will absorb most of the energy of an incoming threat. You may think the metal will form to the impact and restrict your movement to exit the vehicle after impact but I'd be willing to bet that without those metal skins your body won't be doing much moving anyway.
You do have a rollcage setup right? with a cross shaft going across the door? Hopfully that protects you. Drive safe!
