Passenger door mirror standard??????
Here is a shot of my '68 before the restoration. As you can see, there is no mirror on the passenger side door (which has been changed to a later model door - not sure what year). Question is this, how hard is it going to be to put on a mirror and were they standard on all C3 vettes?

It's not hard to put on a passenger side mirror at all. I did it on my 73 and all you have to do is remove the drivers side mirror and measure the distances of the existing mounting holes from the window sill and froward to the front edge of the door. Add masking tape to the passenger side area and mark the locations and drill.
The mirror that I bought from CC was difficult to install since it comes with rubber expansion nuts which where crap. I could never get them to work so since the hole was big enough I used (Bubba Fix) toggle bolts which work really well. I would have nut and bolted it on but the 73 has a steel beam that runs across the door. The 68 you might be able to nut and bolt it.
The other problem I had was the mirror would not turn inboard enough. I had to file the edge of where the mirror pivots in the stand to get enough inboard movement.
It was a poor reproduction mirror but I made it work since I did not want to go to the pain of sending it back.

I read that in 74 they were a option, cost 6$ for that passenger mirrow back then! My car"s original owner didn"t go for that option, as a matter fact he didn"t get anything but power brakes. I also heard it"s a little hard to see over the rear fender in the passenger mirrow, i wouldn"t know cause i still don"t have one!

Your '68 is correct. No RH mirror for '68. Right side mirrors were dealer installed options when they were available, with the exception of sport mirrors. The aftermarket providers now carry a kit to install the RH mirror. You'll have to determine whether the LH mirror is small head or large head. Should be small unless it was changed by a oprevious owner. If in doubt, get the kit with a pair of mirrors.

What I did on mine to add the passenger side mirror was, I removed the drivers side mirror. I then used a piece of tracing paper and lined it up to the top edge of the door and taped it in place. Then I trimmed the tracing paper to the shape of the front edge of the door and marked the holes. I then simply removed the paper gently and flipped it over, lined it up with the top and front edge of the passenger side door and taped it in place. I checked the measurements from both sides and they were exact. I then drilled the holes as they were marked on the paper.
Mine are not chromies they are the sport mirrors so I had to remove the door panels in order to mount them from inside the door frame.

My 69 has a right hand mirror but I'm sure it's an aftermarket piece because the right hand mirror wasn't available for the 69s either. I wouldn't drive the car without one, though. I noticed your car has the inserts in the "gills" on the fenders. I think that's a 69 only feature. I don't think that was originally available for 68s, so, as long as you have the inserts (which look great, BTW) go with the right hand mirror too.

Just installed the passenger side mirror on my '72. Bought the right hand mirror kit for $50.00 and it came with the installation template and very simple instructions.
Purchased mine from TLD Corvette.
Good luck,
Dino

When I ordered mine it was N/A. But my dealer offered it and I turned him down. Few cars in '76 had them so why should I?......

I added the right side mirror to my 69. Simple install using the well nuts and you will not need to pull any door panels. I like being able to see with the addition. Go for it. You will not regret it.

Thanks for all the feedback so far. I ordered the kit below today so I'm definately going to do it.
One thing I'm not so sure about is this. On the drivers side door, the bolts that hold the mirror on screw into a threaded bracket that is inside the door. How am I going to attach the passenger side mirror and not eventually damage the fiberglass without this internal bracket?

Paragon reproductions is where I got mine and had the glass date coded too. Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't they take over Delta Mirror Industries who were the original suppliers to GM. Therefore when the car is judged they are classed as correct original mirrors.
A thing I learned is that the correct position for the morror head is proud (high), on the arm.

The passenger side mirror on my 74 was dealer installed using "riv-nuts"
