L88 vs. Z06 on dyno

L88 vs. Z06 on dyno
I'm just curious if anybody has chassis dynoed an L88. I know that a new Z06 has about 440-450rwhp. If anybody has dynoed an L88, what numbers did you come up with? I would say that the L88 should only be dynoed with open headers since this is the way it was really meant to be. Not that it matters that much since the '08 Viper will set the high mark with 600 net hp. I still find curious as to which Chevy actually put out the higher power.

I thought i read somewhere that a real l88 had close to 500hp to the wheels... And 600hp is good but if chevy gets there vette together with that 650 hp corvette then itll be nice....
Still a 07 Callaway corvette has 670hp i belive... so anyways. dont quote me i might be mistaken but i belive the l88 had around 500 to the wheels

1/4 mile times have the too much variables so I was wondering about dyno rwhp as a good comparison. Can anybody support this goodly "frostbitten" that the L88 had 500rwhp?

I dont know or care about the wheel HP, but good enough to turn consistant 11.20`s in 1969 without the benifit of todays tires and only 9`in slicks. Then when finished remove the slicks and drive it home. One really bitchen engine.

rpm, you cannot compare a new Z06 to the old corvette, as all around. I am just wondering about the motor and which has more power. Better than 1/4 mile times are the rwhp dyno numbers. It is the true test of the motor and drivetrain.

I know. You must have missed my second post.

A forum member has dipped into the 10's....bone stock. DOT tires, exhaust the whole nine yards. That time eclipses not only the L-88 but the big dog ZL-1

Like I said before, 1/4 mile times have too many of variables. Sure, the motor matters but not just the motor. Driver skill, traction, suspension, track conditions, and others make the differences for the times. To find out which has more power, the chassis dyno is the best way. I suppose that the Z06 has between 440-470rwhp depending on the car. Some likely seem higher than others. Rihwoods has a friend and my gosh his seems quite highly. If an L88 had 550gross flywheel hp, I find it doubtfully that it had as much as 470rwhp net. However, chuck dynoed an L88 and got 487rwhp some of the members say!

The proof is in the dyno sheets. Lots of guys are getting 470-ish RWHP. One guy thinks Rangers Z is getting 550 hp at the crank. STOCK!!! He must if he's trapping at 130mph....

Would you accept two out of three ??? These below will be getting dynoed soon..I'll post results....Note also that before these engines leave the assembly plant they run them on the Dnyo at full bore for 20 minutes.....
