Default 1971 LT2 and LS7 ????

Going through my AIM trying to sort out a bumper fit issue (I'll post about this later,I'm about ready to give up).Anyway I came across a reference to a 454-465hp LS7 and a 454-465hp LT2.Did these cars ever get built or was it a case or the manual being printed before the emissions fallout was in full swing?Anybody have4 any info on this?

I never heard of the LT-2 but I have a service replacement 1111465 TI distributor from the stillborn LS-7 project...complete cars, I don`t think so...service replacement parts, yes.

No LS7 Vettes. The engine was reduced to a over the counter service package off road engine for which 100 octane was required

The LS7 motor was never factory installed but was a service part as stated above. The only thing I can think of on the LT2 was it was going to be all the suspension and options for a ZR1 but wth the LS7 motor. Kind of like the ZR2 in 71 with the LS6 motor and ZR1 suspension and options.

I thought these engines were planned for 1970, not '71 ????? What page are they showing up in the '71 AIM ????

BTW, they were also planning the LJ-2 tripower in '70....wish they had made them all......

Yep, correct part # too. And hundreds of naughty, shamefull, and actually sinister HP. The one in the picture was $2400.00 in 1988. Sadly no longer available.

They did indeed build one mule car for testing at Riverside, Ca by a chevrolet engineer Paul Van Valkenberg. This test article was written up in Sports Car Graphic on the '70 LS7. Tonawanda engine plant sent 7 LS7's to Chevrolet engineering in Warren, MI, later 5 of those were returned.

The LT2 made it as far as having original data plates made up. Same with the LS7. They are extremely hard to find.
