For a non AC car-what's the best way to add AC?
My 71 doesn't have air and I want to add it soon. I just bought a stock system on ebay minus compressor but after learning hw the stock system operates I think that a Vintage Air system might be better.
I don't like how the stock air box sticks way off the firewall. I am not looking for a stock appearance and I want to be able to get at the spark plugs. I think the aftermarket systems are a lot lower profile. I also think that the aftermarket systems are more efficient than the stock one.
The wiper switch/center vent piece was in the lot that I bought, so I need that no matter what I decide to do. I also got the control wheel part too, so I could use that with an aftermarket kit I think.
What do you guys think I should do here? I don't have a problem putting the stock parts I don't need back on ebay. I may even turn a profit doing that.

I just re-installed the stick A/C to my '71 which was removed from the car long time back by one of the previous owners. The stock A/C is fairly simple and effective, so far its working just fine. Dont worry about the clearance, my '71 is a big block and I just changed the spark plugs 2 days back with no problems at all.

I have a brand new "in the box" Heat/ A/C system from Hot Rod Air for a corvette. It is everything for inside the car, which includes controls, the unit itself, the firewall plate, the fittings.
It does not have the "underhood" stuff like compressor, brackets, etc.
I bought 2 sets, used one and sold the other car before I could install it.
PM me if you are interested, I can probably save you some money.
You can buy the under hood kit from them seperately. they are really easy to work with.
