Poll: black or doeskin interior for red corvette?
My interior is getting more and more discolored and I want to give it an update. Should I have some vinyl made in the original color: doeskin, or should I go black while I'm at it? I really like both colors in a red 'vette

Not the best quality pic, but red/black always looks hot and looks new longer (mine was done 11 or 12 years ago). Dirt/wear doesn't show as much and if it does fade or wear out it's a lot easier to match. The tan color looks great new, but it's harder to KEEP looking new IMHO.

I have red w/black interior and it looks great but if I were do redo my interior again I would go w/a lighter color. Black is HOT in the summer so much so that if the weather is above 90* I don't drive the vette.

To me I'd base the decision on what you're going to do with the car. If it's made to be driven, go black. You'll be thanking yourself a year from now. If it's a show car, I've always liked the red/saddle (or whatever shade of tan) look. The problem is going to be matching colors now and whenever something needs replaced.

oyster/red
I just had Wilcox make up a custom oyster/red interior package for my 80. As I am sitting in the middle of Baghdad it isnt installed yet but wife sent me pics and they did an outstanding job. Oyster door pannels/red carpet trim. Oyster seats with red pannels, red carpet and red shifter boot. Semer FI Bob

I voted black, but it was before I read that your is originally doeskin. I still like the black better with red, but would have a hard time deciding if it weren't the original color. My 79 is black with red interior, so maybe I'm baised.

Both look good. Red with black interior looks "racy"....Red with tan interior looks "classy". Which look are you shooting for? By the way, if the vinyl parts (including seats) are still in good condition, all you need to do is re-shoot them with vinyl dye (I recommend SEM, which you can get at any good auto paint supply store). It doesn't matter which color you want to go with; just shoot what you have with the color you want. [Clean all surfaces before dyeing.]

True red exterior go with black interior.
Burgundy exterior go with black or doeskin.
That's what I would do.
(Personally I don't like the red/doeskin combo. )

Thanks everybody! I really appreciate all the suggestions and pictures
I think I have the plan ready now: Black accents and inserts in the doeskin interior. If at some point I decide to go all black, that should be no problem. I'll start with simple parts like the e-brake cover and transtunnel sides. I'll post pics as I go and also of the kickpanel speaker 'volcanos' that I made and started this whole color thing in the first place
