Here's one I bullt from plywood and 2X4s and lots of caulk to seal it up.
not pretty, but works.. i just use plexiglas and just replace it when it gets scratches..

yes, side door is on a hinge, it has a weatherstrip to seal, sort of a press lock.. Thanks..

Just a tip for you guys who decide to make their own. The problem with most of the commercially available units from Princess Auto/Harbor Freight is the fact that the hopper doesn't have enough angle to it for the sand to easily slide to the bottom. If you make your own, be sure to make the hopper as tall as possible to let gravity bring the sand down easily.
