Default Shop Owners Inside Please

Whats the going rate for someone who has several years (20+) of body and general car building experience (as a hobby, not professionally), in a restoration/custom shop? I am interviewing with a shop that is fairly well known (not specifically in the Corvette field) for a part time position, possibly leading to a full time position (I work 4 nights a week in my current job). I would be primarily responsible for finish bodywork (priming/filling/blocking), though I would likely be doing some final assembly as well (mechanical, wiring, etc). Thanks!

It all depends on how good you are.

A pro should be able to get a car arrrow straight (no waves ripples etc..). That is harder than it sounds. There are a lot more wavy cars out there than straight. "finishing" work to me is the most challenging because thats when you either get it right or not. The rough work is easy.
Then it all depends on additional skills such as painting ,welding ,fabrication etc.

The hardest thing in this bussiness is to find a great finisher.

That being said, I would pay $20 -25 per hour for a good body guy,and all the way to $30+ for a great "finisher"with multiple skills.

As a matter of fact we are looking for someone right now!!!
Any takers??????
