My ZZ4 and 2004R have a new home!!!!! PICTURES!!
Today was the day!! I singlehandedly dropped my ZZ4 and 2004R into the '72!!! From the time I picked up the hoist to dropping it back off at the rental place...3 1/2 hours!!! Could have used some help, but the leveler was worth 10X what I paid for it!!!
Start of the day...
Lining things up...used the floor jack to position the trans.
Used a couple of long "guide bolts" to hold relative position...
Finally mated together...
Up and over..
But not so fast...Seems that when I bolted the engine and tranny together, the torque converter had slipped out a bit, and I couldnt get the TC bolted to the flexplate..so I had to separate the tranny and reposition the TC...then start all over again! Also I realized that I had forgotten to install the motor mounts...
This time all was good and I started to slip it into the bay...
I padded the frame mounts, the firewall, and the steering cylinder to keep from scratching up my "purdy" new paint!!
Almost there!!
Had to use some "help" to get it to slide the last few inches to the rear..a 4' wooden closet rod as a pry bar!!
Motor mount holes lined up perfectly!!
Finally!!
New home!!!
Now the FUN begins!!!

Nice! Looks like you have another fun car to keep you happy until your project is running again as well. Good on you. Those valve covers though, I'm just not feeling them.

You did all that by yourself...and still managed to take photos along the way. Pretty nice.
Good job on getting your project going. Seeing things like this make me want to go home and spend more time on my projects.
Good luck with the remainder of the Vette.

Very Nice. I'm saving these pic's. My similar project will be starting soon. I'll most likely try and round up some help. I bet things could get a little dicey with the trans tail shaft inches from the windshield!
Excellent work doing this by yourself

Then crank down the tranny end..
Lower the whole thing with the hoist, as you go..
Once the tranny end slips into the tunnel, lower and level until its sitting basically level in place..
Would be a heck of a lot easier with 2 people though!!!

I know what you mean about the valve covers...may look at changing them out someday.
