Default Difference Between PO1 and PO2?

Can anyone tell me the difference between PO1 and PO2 hubcaps?

Also, I purchased a hubcap that looks exactly like a PO2 but it's smaller diameter. What the heck is that?

This is very rough memory , others will need to offer more details

But as I recall PO1 was in 1968 , the the P02 came out for 1969

I also think the wheels were different in 69 ,

Were the 68 Rallies 7" and then 8" in 1969 and later?

The differences seem to be in the center cap design and in the thin blade design of the 'spokes'.

Yes, the ralley wheel was coded AG with rim width of 7" for '68 and coded AZ with rim width of 8" for '69.

I believe that would be the Monte Carlo wheel cover.

early shark and Road-Race Vette you are correct. I just did a search on Monte Carlo hubcaps and found a page with all the different ones and it was there.

Thanks again.

Ok, so another question. I have two PO2's with the flat center emblems. Why are all the Corvette Parts houses carrying only the raised PO2 emblems?

If I remember what I've been reading correctly, the flat ones are the Corvette only emblems while the raised emblems were for other Chevys.

IIRC the flat centers were used on another car line, caprice or impala. The raised cap was for the vet. The same wheel cover was also used on the Riviera with a different center cap

I guess I had it all backwards. The two hubcaps I purchased are the non-Corvette style.

Thanks for straightening me out 70BBvert. :o

Another way to determine which is the Vette wheel cover...the center cap sticks out so far you constantly bang your shins into them!

Boy, between whacking your shins on the center caps and burning your calves on the sidepipes these cars just aren't very user friendly!

Default P01 & 2's

Flipped upside down, they measure 16 1/2 inches across.

So, can I just swap the center caps for the Corvette style? The flat ones are attached with speed nuts on 4 posts through the hubcap.

Yes
If you have the 15" flat style the corvette raised centers bolt right on.

I have found a flat style 15" cap for cheap sometimes and all the parts interchange to replace curbed parts or pitted spokes to make your Corvette set better.
