1977 Dash Removal
How hard is it to remove the dash on a 1977? I want to dye the dash. I take it removing it first would make it the easiest. Any thoughts? Thanks for the help

You'll need to remove the A-pillar trim, and remove the screws that hold the dash knee pads up to the dash, as well as the screws that go up through the gauge bezel into the dash.
I personally would remove the passenger knee pad so you could get you hand in there and undo the defrost vent duct.

I did my '77 last summer. I agree with Durango...and...use a hair dryer to warm up the dash to make it more pliable, takes some easing out, but it can be done with care...time about 30min out, more time in to be careful with scratching your new dye job. Good luck, Domer.

Oh, and GENTLY lift the center up first after you pull the clips away from the birdcage at the bottom of the windshield. If you can bow it in the middle a little it's a lot easier to get out. This sometimes results in cracking...so be VERY careful.
