Pics of my new exhaust...
Mr. UPS dropped off a present from Corvette Central. This kit includes Magnaflow hide away mufflers, intermediate pipe, front extension pipes, Center hangers, donuts, and clamps. I can't wait to bolt this bad boy on. I will keep you posted on the results.

Same exhaust as I have. I am happy with the sound. One tip that may save you a few minutes check the pipes to make sure they all go together with ease. I found a couple of my expansions were too tight so I ran down to the muffler shop and they expanded the pipes for free and only took a few minutes.

OK, pardon me if this sounds like a dumb question. My '77 is almost ready to think about the exhaust system. I was going to take it to a local muffler shop and have them do the job. What is the benefit of buying / ordering a complete set rather than having a muffler shop fabricate a system?

I installed the same system a few month's ago, went on smooth, looks, and sounds great! Sprayed all nuts and studs with PB blaster a week prior to the removal and again day of removal, worked great. I got quotes for custom exhaust installed. $800.00! ?????

Hey - where's the catalyitic converter? Just kiddin. I put those mufflers on mine and liked how they fit. They don't stick out too far like a lot of C-3 tail pipes I see. Just right and have a nice deep sound w/o any raspiness.

I have the Corvette Central system on my car and the joints leak. I need to weld them up. If you are interested I have the exact same mufflers for sale on the parts forum . You could have a muffler shop make the pipes to connect to your manifolds.

Here is how the the Corvette Central exhaust system looks on my 77.
They are great sounding mufflers. A little loud at full throttle.
I now have the stock type mufflers on my car.

If you are not going to weld the connections, I would recommend using exhaust sealer at the connections. I use high temp RTV, but now I see they actually have a sealant for this purpose. It works great, and gets rid of the piff..piff.piff, and the soot marks. Really!

a good custom set is hard to beat. my muffler guy charges $400 from the manifold back with chrome tips. custom fit to each car and looks good if i wasn't having side pipes put on he would have already built some for me.

I called Corvette central today, and i am going to buy this kit. It's a 2-1/2" system, will be plenty for what i am doing, and the headers will not run into the tranny like the shiity Headman ones i took off.

Hey, This is the set I am thinking about for my 81. I really would be interested in knowing how yours fit and how you like it.
What year is yours?

I have a 1980 vette. There is another member on here who took his car to Magnaflow, and they used his car as a template to make a bolt on kit for our cars. They also have a catback setup that is aprox 6 weeks out too, so i would like to have a look at that as well.
