Default Sill plate liner for 68 vert?

I was flipping through my assembly manual last night and I noticed that the manual shows a "sill plate liner" under the door sill plates.

My sill plates are screwed directly into the fiberglass - no liner.

Does anyone reproduce the sill plate liners or do any of you have them? If they're not available, what were they made out of and what were the dimensions? I'm assuming they were ome sort of cloth which I could simply cut out.

Thanks in advance,

Q

I'll pull up the page number when I get home. They're very clearly marked in the AIM so maybe they were "in the works" but never ultimately installed.

My 68 had the liners and they were made from something like tarpaper but a little thicker, almost like roofing felt.
I replaced them with rubberized sheet roofing cut to size and it worked well since I had some on hand and the local lumber yard would only sell me a complete roll of roofing felt which would have been enough to do a thousand Corvettes so I opted for the rubber roofing I already had on hand.
Worked well since it is sticky on one side whick kept it in place and prevented it from sliding. Of course the screws for the sill plates do the same thing.

Interesting. Thanks for the info! Would you happen to have some pics you could share?

Don't recall my 68 having the liners when I took it apart. Would the liners be another early/late difference?

Q's 68.
I don't have any pictures as the car is completely assembled and the carpet overlaps the liners and the sill plates are screwed down over that.
All that is visible are the sill plates

My 68 had them also. Saying they were something like tarpaper is a good description. I wonder if they were made of the same material that is used both under the tank hold down straps and between the tank and the tank crossmember. It looks like tarpaper also. Gave mine a toss, should have saved them!

Probably the crap they used for firewall insulation. Now thats some nasty tar stuff.

Anyone know what those two rubber post behind the brake pedals are for. Is that what they used to attach the outside spash shields too?
