Default Anti-Freeze on Frame rail

1970 just put a new motor in and thought all was fine. Took a ride this weekend and found a puddle of anti-freeze on the right frame rail just before the door. Since the car originally had AC - but all parts taken off about 10 years ago - the evaporator is still there(In front of the heater box in the engine compartment). Anti-freeze was leaking from the hole in the bottom of the evaporator onto the frame rail - this is where condensation from the ac normally comes out. I have a heater hose shut off valve on the top hose. But, the bottom hose still "pushes"water/heat and the solution was to put a shut off valve on the bottom hose too. I realize the evaporator and heater core are next to each other but the hoses go to the core and not the evaporator. Then, why would there be anti-freeze coming from the evaporator?

sounds like heater core has a hole in it, antifreeze is just seeking a way out, better than on your passenger carpet.

Sure. Instead of cut off valves, I suggest just looping the heater hose between the engine nipples.

The drain plug in my passenger floor board didn't leak a drop! Held almost a quart in the padding and carpet.
