Default Installed my new carpet/insulation! (Lots and lots of PICS!)

All i can say is what a difference!! New carpet, especially compared to my old carpet, makes the car look a million times nicer. Multiply that by being able to clean most of my interior pieces...
Ill let the pictures do that talking. Im including before, during, and after pictures.
This is what my carpet/console looked like before...

After tearing out the carpet, here was the condition of the factory heat shielding and sound barrier.

While removing my carpet, i found about three of these tags. They look like they are are product tag to the carpet that came in the factory. They are labeled with a 1974 date, and each specify what piece of carpet they go to.

Time for the refectix insulation install!

Also installed a new raido bezel and a new shifter housing, seeing that both were broekn in half.

New carpet time! Look at the difference!

I also got the chance to clean some of my rear interior pieces. Just use a brush and scrubbing bubbles! This is why you should not smoke in your car...

Tell me what you guys think!

What a difference! Looks beautiful! Where did you purchase the carpet kit? I will be doing the same thing in the not to distant future (hopefully). Nice work with the reflectix too!

Excellent work - really does make a huge difference! Just finished mine this weekend - reflectix, new carpet and rear sound bar/box. The only thing I noticed that I am going to change is space between the brake pedal and the tunnel is tight on my foot (with boots on) due to the extra thickness of the reflectix and new carpet.

Was the rear section hard to get in and out? What about the rear compartment doors?

Nice work. How do you like the temperature difference in the car? Reflectix works well.

The carpet was ordered from Willcox. It is 80/20 Loop in medium saddle. It acutally only cost under $200, and still was really good quality. It has a real thick backing to the carpet, and all the pieces fit with minimal cutting.

The rear carpet was not that hard to get out, just time consuming. You have to remove your pillar trim, rear light and seat belt bolts. After all this you really just pull it out with the insulation.

The rear compartment doors unbolt from the rear compartment frame with two or three screws each. Then the frame comes out with i think eight screws.

As for the temperature difference in the car, i havent determined it yet. The only driving that i have done was about 15 minutes yesterday in 75 degrees with the tops off...
I do know that the center console feels cooler than it did.

It was your thread with pics that sold me on the idea on reflectix insulation. The only problem that i notice is that the gas pedal does not have as much room between it and the trans tunnel due to the carpet/reflectix. That just might be due to the fact that i never had carpet there to begin with...

Looks great so far. Take the console out when you die it, don't spray it in the car.

Mine was like that as well. After a few months of light use, it had laid down enough to eliminate the problem, and I haven't noticed it since.

But I suppose it has a lot to do with how big your feet are too.

Well as the old saying goes, big feet ....
Thanks for the tip. Didn't want to have to remove any of the insulation.
