Default "Windjammer" for a C3 Convertible

Anyone have/used one of these units? Are they effective?

I have one for my '69 roadster...it's very effective. I'm 6'03" and the top of my head is over the top of the windshield. The Windjammer redirects the air over my head and makes for a more comfortable drive and I can often even wear a hat without losing it in the slipstream...but a lot depends on how fast you're driving.

Regardless, it's a worthwhile addition to your car and very easily removable if necessary.

Thanks! Corvette Central says it is only for a coupe. I queried them on that by e-mail but I guess it is a long weekend in the USA so I do not expect an answer until Tuesday.

My initial experience with a convertible is that there is a lot of wind turbulence. This unit seems like a nice way to cut that down.

BTW, spring has finally arrived in this region of Canada. Almost 70*F today. Got out for about two hours (pic from this morning). City driving is nice but when we hit 70mph on the freeway the Wife's hat almost went up and out! In any case, nice to be driving despite the fuel costs: almost $6.00/gallon here.

I don't have a problem with my '71, but I did get one for my '88. Huge difference!

I had a '78 coupe with a Windjammer as well...it made a difference in that car as well. I found the '78 with the tops off had far more turbulence than the '69 with the top down. I've never had anything fly out of the '69 while going down the highway...it happened a couple of times in the '78.

Don't worry about what Corvette Central said about the Windjammer being for a coupe...it fits the convertible equally well.

Default AWESOME mod

if you're over 6'1" and like driving with the tops off, this is must have -- unlesss you like the wind in the forehead experience.
REALLY quiets the interior turbulance down.

Bugs smacking you in the forehead is quite the experience as well!

I'm 6' 1". A June bug at 60mph must be quite a treat.

Hey Paul! I knew We'd find you in this section sooner or later.
Nice C-3.
I have a couple of friends that have used them and they were happy with the results.
Rick.

Thanks Rick. The C2s are magnificent cars, and I do enjoy my 1967, but I "sorta" missed my 1979 for some reason. I really liked that car after 17 years of restoration despite the negative image they have owing to the high production numbers. So this time around I said C3 roadster for 2008. And that's were I am.

Corvette Central insists that the Windjammer cannot be used on a convertible. Eckler's says yes. I ordered the Eckler's unit. This could be an interesting $149.00 experiment. Is there more than one "Windjammer" configuration out there? I am getting a sinking feeling....that I will get into one of those product return messes. And from Canada they get very expensive.

I bought Windjammers for my '69 and the '78 I've since sold from Corvette Central. No difference between them and I had switched them between cars with absolutely no difference in fit.

Was the 1969 a roadster?

Yep...the '69 is a roadster. It's sitting in the garage right now with the Windjammer on it.
