Please review this 1981 project that i went to look at
Here is the story:
Went to look at a 1981 Corvette near me (SB,Auto, Matching #'s). The car had alot of dissassembly, but all the parts were there. The owner had stopped restoration on account of finding rust.
Please look at the pictures and tell me what you think. Project? Parts car? Also tell me how much you would pay for the car in this condition.

Depends on how much he wants for it--and what kind of time and money you want to invest.
Some of the car looks good but some of it looks real bad.
You will need to spend some money on the rust areas for sure.

Was it stored underwater? In short that car will break your heart and your wallet. At first the pictures did not look so bad but the further down you go - yikes!
As for a parts car - to be honest, not many (if any) desirable parts left not touched by rust. The most desirable option on the car is the rear-deck t-top holder. Does he have the parts/straps for this? Does it have glass tops? The Alum wheels will pull a $$ or two but that's it. Good luck.

Ive been around the block when i comes to corvettes. Im know how much work would have to go into that, which is alot.
I want you guys to tell me, based on condition, what you would pay for the car...
Personally I think its a parts car considering the rust

I would not pay 3K for it. I would make a list of the good parts on the car and give them a value that they could be sold for. The total of those parts would be about what I would offer.

It looks to be worth about $1,000.00 as-is. That looks like bondo on the frame rail!
He obviously has much more in the car, and the best thing he can do is continue on. Horsepower TV could fix that rust in one episode!
He can part it out for more, if the interior was in decent shape.
What do you want the car for?

Safety Car
This is a time for insulting offers (they'll be the only ones he gets as 3/4 of the buyers for this type of car are out of the game until the economy turns around). Let us know what happens.
