Default How to Install a Factory 78-79 Rear Spoiler

So far an enjoyable summer driving the 79 L82. After much caliper replacement I finally solved the pull to the right when breaking…a contaminated brake pad!

Quickly installed new pads and problem went away.

I am having a paint scratch repaired and now seems like a good time to paint and install the factory rear spoiler I bought on ebay last year.

Does anyone have any instructions or template to install the spoiler? Did not see anything in the factory shop manual.

PS. Just got back from the Dream Cruise and C3’s were very well represented.

Dimensions for the mounting holes are in both the 78 and 79 AIMs.

Assembly Instruction Manual (AIM). Basically there are two manuals you need for the C3 - the Shop Manual and the AIM. The AIM shows how the car was put together on the Assembly line, sort of like the instruction sheets you get with any product - think a more detailed instruction set with plastic models.

Mine just has Four holes drilled in the rear deck of the car, do you need to get the holes transfered to the deck from the spoiler i used black model paint put a piece of tape over the holes on the spoiler get the center then put a drop of paint centered on the hole , two people lower the spoiler down to the car where you want it drop it down till the drop leaves paint on the back deck of the car this will give you the hole pattern (to drill) other than that I used Stainless steel screws.

Thanks for all the info, especially the scan.

Does the numbers, 5.00, 15.00, 24.00 represent the distance in inches from the center?

Possibly. Measure the studs on your spoiler. Not sure what the 17.50 citation would be on the corner. I'm guessing 17 1/2" up from the bottom.
