Default Need Help Interpreting Carb Date Codes

The original carb on my '70 sb has a Rochester Quadrajet body #7040213 and date code EO DG.

I am looking at a spare with the same body #, and has date code BO DG.

With a car build date of F03 (June 3), can anyone advise if the carb that I'm looking at would be considered 'correct'?

I did a search before I posted this question ... and found some good info, but I'm still not sure what date these carbs were built, nor what a reasonable carb date code would be for my June 3 build.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Default carb

Corvette By The Numbers by Colvin says:
B0=Feb 1970
E0=May 1970

For carb dates the 6 month window is used - so a Feb carb could be considered correct on a Jun built car.

But closer is better. Another May date would be ideal.

Thanks very much to papawana, Marshman, and Easy Mike for your help. I'll have to add 'Corvette By The Numbers' to my wish list.

Hi 70Y,
I believe your carburetor is a CARTER built quadrajet.
The CARTER built quadrajets have a month/year code as you posted.
The ROCHESTER built quadrajets have a a jullian date, for example ...1230, the one hundred, twenty-third day of 1970.
I'm not sure what % of carbs where made by each manufacturer.
Merry Christmas!
Regards,
Alan

Thanks Alan, you are absolutely correct ... my original carb is a Carter. I don't know why I was thinking this, but I assumed that 'Quadrajet' and 'Rochester Quadrajet' were synonymous.

So ... does that mean that both manufacturers used the same part numbering system using different date code nomenclature, but perhaps used the same specs to manufacture the sub-components of a carb?

Hi70Y,
I think you're right. This is a case of 2 suppliers building the same part number.
I guess the most famous example of this is the A.O.Smith built, complete bodies.
Merry Christmas!
Regards,
Alan
