? about '69 convertible.
Hi Guys, this is my first post over here on the C-3 forum. Anyway, I'm looking at a 1969 Corvette convertible to purchase. It has a 350-350hp, four speed, ps, pb, posi rear and am/fm stereo. My question is did '69 corvettes ever come with a Hurst shifter? The car that I'm looking at, the owner said that it is a numbers matching engine and trans. I thought that all four speeds came with a "t" handle shifter. Thanks for your responses.

A matching number trans has nothing to do with the shifter.

A Hurst shifter is a nice upgrade, but as others said, see if they have the stock shifter to go along with it. Me personally I'd leave the Hurst in it and keep the stock one on the shelf if it's there.

Leave the hurst. The original shifter mounted to the body, and flexed under torque, making it hard to shift during a fast run. The Hurst mounts to the tranny, so it moves with the torque, and is not subject to the binding of the original shifter.
