Don't know a site, but here's an example I can explain...

At the top, 'K24' is approximate date of production, can be off a day or two. This date is July 24. K being the 11th month of 78 production. 78 production started in Sept 77.
Trim '29C' is dark blue cloth.
'13U' and '07M' is the paint code. In this case silver upper, grey lower.
Post what you got and we'll let you know what it means...

You're not being real clear, but oyster is 122. 13 paint is silver.
Does it give 2 numders for paint? May be a silver anniversary original paint.
Are you saying J1? That would be June 1(but should be J01)

Trim tag is on the driver's hinge post and visible when the door is open.

Post a pic of your tag and we can decode the numbers. An alpha I is sometimes substituted for a numeric 1.

13L is the code for silver exterior paint. The "L" stands for the lower portion of the car below the belt line. If the car was two-toned, a U code (upper color) would also be listed. Since most C3s were a single color, the U codes don't show up very often. Technically the L isn't needed on a one color car.

Your time/build code is listed in the upper right corner of the tag. J is usually May; J13 would be May 13th. Go here http://www.timeanddate.com/calendar/index.html type in the year, and it will tell you the day of the week for May 13th. Any day but Sunday could work. The plant did not run on Sundays.

Here is a site:

http://www.corvette-world.com/corvet...ifications.php

Click on the Body Paint and Trim for that info.

As far as Dates click on the 68-82 Body Build Date and that will give you the corresponding month for the letter.

thats different it has my paint code listed as silver metallic but the car is red and it doesnt appear to have been totally resprayed. hmmmm very interesting. there are spots on the car like under the hood where the paint is usually very thin where you can see the black body under it but no silver paint

i spent the last 4 hours going over the car and i finally found a dime size spot of silver paint. it almost looks like the paint was never sprayed on the whole car. even the undersides and the tight corners dont have any silver in them

a properly done color change, paint job, you would not find any evidence of the orginal color,
atleast not on my cars. 69VETT

Now I have another question, it's a 13L Paint (silver) and 122 interior (oyster) it says here http://www.web-cars.com/corvette/opt...ptionyear=1978 that this was not an option, I think I recall somewhere saying if you showed up with a check, you could order what you wanted. So is this correct?

I suspect your website lists GM recommended color combinations and it's possible your car could have been oytster and silver if the combination was approved by GM and if it wasn't going to cost them anything. They already had silver paint and they already had oyster interiors, so the combination is possible.

Go here http://www.corvetteactioncenter.com/...x.php?cmd=area and see if you can obtain a copy of the original dealer invoice for your car. It will list the original colors, all the equipment and options, prices, original dealer, date shipped from St. Louis, etc.
